I just re-installed Win 7, 64 bit. Ethernet is working. Loaded the correct wireless drivers based on the Hardware ID. Device manager says everything is good. I see the wireless in the Network center. Right click on its enabled. If I click on Connect, a dialog box pops up and tells me what adapter I am currently using. However, the wifi button doesn't do anything. It just stays amber. I used the MS troubleshooter and it says the button needs to be pressed. I updated the BIOS. Stumped on this one. Thanks for reading.

Hi:
If that is the case, I recommend you go into the BIOS and disable LAN/WLAN switching.
The default is enabled, and if you have an ethernet cable plugged in the wifi automatically is shut off.
When you are not connected via an ethernet cable, the wifi is on and the ethernet is shut off.

Hi:
I am stumped on this one too.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if installing the HP connection manager software, restarting the PC and then try turning on the wifi with the HPCM software utility.
If it doesn't work, it may give you a more detailed explanation as to why not.

You may also want to install the Hotkey support driver if you have not done so already.
This package provides support for special function keys on supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
