I've tried doing this but now instead of the computer freezing the wifi suddnely disconnects and the options for wifi disapper from settings. Also when I check the device manager there's an error sign on the wifi driver.

Hi @Alice18

I recommend you to uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall it from the below link.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Open the Device Manager: ...
  2. Double-click Network Adapters to expand the section.
  3. Right-click the Wireless Adapter and select Properties.
  4. Click Driver tab.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Check Delete the driver software for this device and click OK.

Download the driver from the below link and install it.

@Alice18, It's great to hear from you again.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

Try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and let me know the results.

Refer this article to know how to perform system diagnostics on your PC.

If the test result passes the only option I can think of is to perform a complete system recovery on your PC and check if the issue persists.

Refer this article to know how to perform system recovery on your PC.

Note: performing recovery would result in data loss.

If you have issues even after performing recovery from the partition. Try running the recovery using the recovery discs.

If you don't have a set of recovery discs, please contact HP support and order a set of recovery discs.

Link to contact HP.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
