We manage 100+ HP notebooks with my organization's team. We have had a huge number of random connectivity issues with RTL8822 and RTL8821 cards present on these machines.
The drops were random, the debugging was almost imposible to perform.
The main point is that when we searched on the support portal for the latest drivers for the machines (multiple models), we got drivers that were +5 years old.
These are my pointers to anyone with this issue in their HP notebooks:
1) The RTL88xx cards have very faulty drivers
2) HP does not provide the latest drivers for these cards when you search them in the support portal, and there is no way (that we found) to search for the latest HP drivers for these families of cards
3) There is a person in this forum Paul Tikkanen (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/178540) who consistently posts the latest drivers in these forums, and is a HUGE help to any HP laptop owner and this community. Thanks Paul!!
I hope HP improves on the search/findability of these drivers.
We fixed most of the issues with HP laptops, RTL8xxx cards and our wifi (Unifi) with these version of the drivers: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp150501-151000/sp150994.exe
