WiFi disconnects & computer freezes

HP Recommended
HP 15-da0xxx core i5 8th generation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Wifi cuts out within minutes of startup and then about 10 seconds later the entire computer freezes and needs a hard reboot.  None of the diagnostics that I have been able to run has solved the problems.  I do not have any files that I need to keep on the computer and do not have a restore point that I can go back to except for the Factory reset.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

@EngrNasirJamal Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that Wifi drops and computer freeze issue.

Go to Device manager > select the WIFI drivers under network adapter> Right click go to properties  > Under properties go to Power Management Tab> Uncheck  "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

If issue persists, continue with the below steps:

  • button on or near the keyboard and the wireless activity light is off or amber in color, then press the key or button to enable your wireless adapter. This key might be the F10 key, F12 key or labeled with a symbol of an airplane.

  • If wireless activity comes on or the activity light turns blue, you have enabled wireless on your system. Try connecting to the Internet again. If problems persist, continue using these steps.

For computer freezing issue, please perform the below steps.

Turn off the computer.

Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.

Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.

Second, you can check if there is Bios update available for your PC, here is the link to download.

Performing a test on the Hard drive as well as on the Memory from the Hardware diagnostics:
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once for System Diagnostics.
4) Go to Component test.
5) Run extensive Memory and Hard Drive test.

Depending on the test results, If the test passes then I would suggest you perform a complete system recovery.

Note: Recovery will wipe off everything from the computer. If you have anything important get in touch with some local stores to get your data backed up.
