So My PC was orignally upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10 home and activated. I did a full clean install updates and all and everything worked fine. Then one day I decided to do another full clean install and everything worked fine once again however after about an hour, my option to connect to WiFi just stopped working. So here I am writing to this forum after contacting microsoft and having them remotely access my computer and troubleshoot this issue serveral times, Ive redownloaded the updated the bios from the HP site for my pc and Ive even spent countless hours downloading driveres to try and fix this issue. Im at a loss, The driver for my Wifi adapter built into this tower doesnt work now, it tells me when i try n download the driver that its not supported code 9998. Which is pretty simply understood and cut to the point but get this, Ive used this operating system and pc as it is 100% the same and wifi connection has always been an option. So if you know what to do please help.

Hi:
Looking at the product specs link for your PC, the picture shows that it comes with a Ralink RT5390 wifi adapter.
All of the legacy Ralink wifi adapters eventually have issues with W10 as you upgrade to the newer versions.
So, if you have the Fall Creator's Update (v1709) installed, most likely that is why the wifi card doesn't work anymore (or will give you very sporatic connections).
The only suggestion I can offer (if the product specs are correct), would be to install the final W10 driver for that model wifi adapter that HP has.
This package contains the driver installation package for the Mediatek (Ralink) wireless LAN Controller in the supported models running a supported operating system.

If that driver doesn't work, or you continue to have issues with the Ralink wifi adapter, the easiest thing to do to fix the problem would be to purchase an external USB dual band wifi adapter.
If your PC doesn't have a Ralink wifi adapter, please let me know which one you have, so I can see if there is a W10 driver for it.

Okay thank you very much ill try that download right now.
Its weird though, because i was using wifi with no problem for months with windows fully updated. I then cleanly installed windows 10 and the driver and wifi option are nowhere to be found. I find it strange that it would just happen for seemingly no reason.
So I just finished that download for the Ralink drivers you gave me, and as it approached the part where to choose the folder for the download I pressed okay and it gave me the option to replace exsisting files there. So I did. But my question is if those files already exsist why would I need to redownload them? Also if that ralink driver is in the computer where is it located under device manager because it isnt showing up under "Network Devices"? This is what im confused about, The Ralink driver is in its appropriate place, There has been NO harware changes since last time i used this PC for WiFi so how do i get the wifi working again. This PC is completely stock minus a sound card.

You're very welcome.
Yes, you see that is the problem.
Your screen shot shows the complete absence of the wifi hardware, which is typically what happens to those Ralink wifi adapters and W10. They just disappear, and there is nothing you can do to get them working again.
If by some rare chance the wifi adapter does appear again, it will soon disappear again.
If your PC has no sound, see if installing this driver and restarting the PC gets the sound to work again.
This package provides the IDT Tempo High Definition Audio Driver for supported desktop models that are running a supported operating system.
File name: sp71717.exe

Okay so I just opened my computer tower after unplugging all power supplys and making sure the reserve power was gone. I then took my Ralink chip (pictured below) out of its slot, to do this I needed to use a philips head screwdriver to remove a screw on the upper left hand corner of the chip, and then as the screw was remoed the chip itself leaned forward so that i could gently lift it out of its spot.
After inspecting the chip and the slot for possible electrical surges or problems i placed the chip back in and screwed it into place. Upon doing so I finished putting the panales on my computer and reconnecting the power. I then powered the PC on, seconds after powering the PC on i saw the option for WiFi and the device showed up in device manager.

Im not sure why this worked entirely, but i am glad it did.
I hope my experience can help readers out there to diagnose similar issues. I will keep this post updated if the issues persists.
