Hi

Yes thank you.

It is a HP Pavilion dv6-3150se Entertainment Notebook PC

with lots of info here...

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-Pavilion-dv6-3100-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/4247579/m...

with software and drivers here (even if they are not relevant)

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dv6-3100-entertainment-notebook-pc-seri...

So now that you can install drivers etc, thanks to Paul, can you move onto the ping command please and report any progress.

Hi

If/When an adapter is installed and working

ping 127.0.0.1 is the most basic test to show it is installed.

ping does not require a Web Browser etc and is an excellent way to start to show connections.

Hi

Examples

C:\>ping 127.0.0.1
Ping statistics for 127.0.0.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

C:\>ping 192.168.0.1
Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 4ms, Maximum = 8ms, Average = 6ms

C:\>ping wikihow.com
Ping statistics for 151.101.202.110:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 116ms, Maximum = 144ms, Average = 133ms

Those 3 tests above show an adapter installed, a Route to my Router, then a connection to a web site on the internet.  So all is working well.

If you could produce something similar please.

Hi, @poovi100

The driver is correct.

There is something else wrong that unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with.

Thank you for confirming the driver details, @ Paul_Tikkanen. And thank you for all the input and help.

Hi @ CF4,
I tried out the ping commands.

Here are the results:

1)ping 127.0.0.1 is a success and gives the exact same output you had provided earlier
2) ping 192.168.0.1 failed. It showed a 100% data transmission loss.

And hence ping command 3 would also fail.

So does this mean that the adapter and driver are okay? What can we infer from this?

Thanks

Hi

There is a working adapter in your PC.

Some HP systems have a Driver for the WiFI (F12) button, mine does, but I cannot find one for your machine.

HP Wireless Button Driver

1.1.18.1 Rev.A3.9 MBSep 9, 2016

That's mine.  To turn Aeroplane mode ON/OFF.

Without this next step I am stumped.
