Hello, Paul

Unfortunately, the new driver is not helping. I still have to uninstall and reinstall the adapter to get regular internet speeds.

Looks like I'll be returning the laptop on Tuesday and most likely going with something besides HP. My previous HP laptop died after 1 year and 2 weeks, so of course no support from HP. They just are not the company to be going with.

Thank you for the attempt, I hope your New Year's Eve is going well.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that the newer driver didn't work for you.

Have a happy new year, and I hope that whatever replacement notebook you buy works better.

Try to get a notebook that comes with an Intel wifi adapter.

Cheers,

Paul

I have been researching 802.11d and there are reports of problems with Realtek even going back to 2016.   Some of the solutions involve disabling 802.11d as it was preventing certain bands in the 5ghz from being used..  Other solutions are to replace with an Intel Wi-Fi or return the Laptop

I would be interested in what Wi-Fi chip was used in the laptop you will be getting.  If buying from a retails store you might want to ask to test the display model and see how it works.

I just ran this command "netsh wlan show driver" and I do not see 802.11d as a feature on my AX210.  If the country you are in requires 802.11d you may be stuck with Realtek.

This is what that netsh shows on my system.  I am not currently using Wi-Fi as it is hardwired

Hello again, BeemerBiker,

Thank you for your efforts with this. There is no help from HP, so people like you are what is keeping me trying to get this figured out.

I am in the US, but I don't know if the 802.11d should be used here or not. I do not remember seeing 802.11d for wi-fi specs before, but I haven't worked on computers in a few years.

The gentleman, Paul, that you sent my info to, had a link for a different driver. I tried installing his recommended driver, but there was no difference in performance. I still have to uninstall and reinstall the adapter to get regular speeds.

I'm probably going to return this laptop to go with another manufacturer. I can let you know what I find with the other brands regarding the adapter's used, if you'd like.

Thank you again, and Happy New Year!
