My Wifi signal strength on my laptop suddenly plummeted and now i'm unable to connect to the wifi unless i sit directly in front of the Router, all the other laptops and devices don't have this problem. this happened soon after I took back my laptop from the authorised Service Centre for a heating issue and Cooling Fan replacement. never had this issue in any of my devices before

I've already tried updating my Wireless Adaptor both through manually downloading the latest update as well as updating it through Device Manager as well, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the Wireless Adaptor. none of them seem to work

@Arpith,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the wireless signal strength on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Run Network Adapter Troubleshooter:

To start troubleshooting, right-click the Wi-Fi icon from the system tray and select Troubleshoot problems. It might take a while to run the troubleshooter and once it is done, it will display you all the problems with your network adapter. It will also fix them in the background but again there are some problems which will require manual action.

Change WiFi Roaming Sensitivity:

  1. First, navigate to the Control Panel which can be found in your Start menu. ...
  2. From there, click on Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Then, you want to select Wi-Fi next to Connections. ...
  4. Finally, navigate to Advanced, and then under Property select Roaming Sensitivity Level.

NOTE: Roaming Sensitivity is the rate at which your device selects and switches to the nearest available point of access, offering a better signal. It is based on signal strength and quality – and not on the distance to the WiFi point.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
