Not tech savvy so please explain in simpler terms. I logged on my laptop last week and had seen that an update for Windows 11 had been attempted but the laptop was not compatible. That's fine but I've now noticed that the WIFI icon has disappeared (it just shows as a globe if not connected to an Ethernet cable. The only network adaptor I can see is the Realtek PCLe FE Family Controller and in the 'view hidden' I can see Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) and Ralink RT5390R 802. 11bgn Wifi -Fi Adaptor ( i think I had installed this in hopes of trying to fix this issue). I have tried most of the advice given on the HP forums for similar issues but nothing is helping. The laptop has been factory booted, windows 10 was reinstalled, I have also attempted to reinstall wireless drivers from HP but the issue still remains. Is anyone able to help with this? Thank you

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to fix the problem other than to replace the Ralink Wi-Fi card or use a USB Wi-Fi adapter.

That is a very common issue with the Ralink Wi-Fi cards and the newer builds of Windows 10.

One day they just up and disappear.

This small USB Wi-Fi adapter is dual band and also comes with Bluetooth:

USB WiFi Bluetooth Adapter for PC, Mini Wireless Dongle 600mbps Dual Band 2.4G/5.8G USB Bluetooth Ad...

If you would rather replace the internal card, either one of these may work, but I can't guarantee it.

Dual band Wireless AC: (867 MBPS max throughput on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band).

Genuine HP Envy 15 SERIES WIFI WIRELESS CARD 724935-001 | eBay

Dual band Wireless N: (300 MBPS max throughput on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band).

Broadcom Wireless Internal Mini PCI Express WLAN Wi-Fi Card - BCM943228HMB | eBay

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.
