Microsoft Windows 11

Whenever I start my laptop it's all good. But if the router restarts or the electricity goes out I can't reconnect to wifi.

When I try the Windows "get help" it says your wifi is disabled. If i restart my computer wifi works again.

I  reinstalled wifi drivers, disabled-enabled the wifi, I reset the network adapters and none worked.

Sometimes when I open my laptop I can't even find the wifi icon.

I tried every solution HP and Windows recommend but none worked.

Hi @Gokay_ee,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating to experience connectivity issues with your laptop. Since you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, let's explore some additional solutions.

Power Cycle Your Router:

  • Turn off your router and wait for about 10 seconds.
  • Turn it back on and allow it to fully restart.
  • Attempt to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network on your laptop.

Update Router Firmware:

  • Visit the manufacturer's website for your router and check if there's a firmware update available.
  • If an update is available, follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to update your router's firmware.

Windows Network Troubleshooter:

  • Right-click on the network icon in the system tray.
  • Select "Troubleshoot problems" and follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows diagnose and fix the issue.

Check Power Settings:

  • Make sure your laptop's power settings are not causing the Wi-Fi to be turned off to save power.
  • Go to "Device Manager," find your wireless network adapter, right-click, and go to "Properties." Look for a Power Management tab and uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" > "Choose what the power buttons do."
  • Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" and uncheck "Turn on fast startup."

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows operating system is up-to-date by checking for and installing any available updates.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Visit the HP support website for your laptop model and check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available. If there is, follow the instructions to update your system's firmware.

Network Reset:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Status."
  • Scroll down and click on "Network reset."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset network settings. Note that this will remove and reinstall all network adapters and set other networking components back to their default settings.

Remember to back up important data before performing significant system updates or resets.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
