Every time I open my laptop after it has been in sleep mode, the wifi disconnects and can sometimes take hours, or days, to reconnect. The wifi is also sometimes disconnecting during use. All of the network adapters are up to date. I have already updates the BIOS, set the power plan settings to high performance, and disabled Hybrid sleep mode. Any ideas? Thanks

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, Wi-Fi disconnects after being in sleep mode,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Does this happen only after your notebook comes back from sleep mode?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Install latest network adapter driver using HPSA

HP computers with Windows come with HP Support Assistant (HPSA) installed. HP Support Assistant can be used to automatically find and install the latest updates for your computer.

NOTE: You can install the latest version from the HP Support Assistant (in English) website.

Follow these steps to open HP Support Assistant and check for software and driver downloads.

  1. Double-click the HPSA desktop icon  or select HPSA from the Start screen.
  2. In HP Support Assistant, click the Updates and tune-up button.
  3. Click Check for updates now.

HP Support Assistant now checks for the latest updates from the HP servers.

  4. If new updates are available, make sure the check box next to each update is selected and click Apply to begin downloading and installing the updates.

If no updates are available, click Finish.

For more information about using and configuring HP Support Assistant, refer to Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7) .

Try connecting to the Internet again.

Update the BIOS (Notebook PCs): Follow steps from the link.

Disable power management state for wireless adapter in Device Manager

Most wireless devices can be turned off by the system to save power. In some sleep scenarios, the device might not wake properly when the system returns from sleep or hibernate. To prevent this from happening, adjust the power management settings for the wireless adapter.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
  2. Double-click Network Adapters to expand the list, right-click the wireless (Wi-Fi) adapter in the list, and then select Properties.

  3. In the Adapter Properties window, click the Power Management tab.
  4. Remove the check next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power, and then click OK.

  5. Close Device Manager, restart the notebook computer, and then attempt to reconnect to the wireless network.

Use the Network and Internet Troubleshooter

The Network and Internet Troubleshooter tests the network for problems and attempts automatic repairs for any issues found.

  1. Right-click the wireless connection icon ( or ) in the notification area, then select Troubleshoot problems. The Windows Network Diagnostics window opens and the troubleshooting process begins.

NOTE: This is an image of a connected network, your icon may look different depending upon the status.

  2. After automated troubleshooting has completed, read the information on the screen.
    • If problems were found and actions are suggested, perform the suggested actions, and then try connecting to the Internet again.

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!
