Thanks, for the help. I managed to fix the problem by restoring the system to previous Windows 11 version (prior to the latest update), I then ran all the updates and it is now working perfectly, so something in the update obviously went wrong. For info I copied the subject directly from the machine.

You can reinstall the latest W11 driver for the MediaTek MT7921 wifi adapter from the link below:
MediaTek Wireless LAN Driver
MT7921 Driver, version 3.0.1.1317

Thanks for this. I have installed it but for some reason its still not working. It seems as if the system is not finding the hardware as it not showing up in device manager and there is no wifi network adaptor. Anything else that I might be able to try?

You're very welcome.
I'm looking at the product specs for your notebook and it indicates your notebook has a Realtek RTL8822CE Wi-Fi adapter, not a Mediatek one.
HP Pavilion - 15-cs3965nd Product Specifications | HP® Support
Did HP make a substitution for a better card than the specs indicate it came with?
This is the driver you need for the Realtek Wi-Fi card:
2024.10.228.9 Dec 07, 2023
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp150501-151000/sp150994.exe
If the Realtek driver doesn't work either, unfortunately, other than backing up any files you don't want to lose and factory resetting the notebook, I don't have any other ideas for you to try.
Use the HP cloud recovery tool on another PC and create a bootable USB recovery drive.
The HP image will have all of the necessary drivers included.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support
You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.
HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Microsoft Store Apps
Since you will have to use the utility on another PC, since you have no network connection, you will need to enter the PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
Your PC's product number is 8BU01EA#ABH
If that fails to restore the Wi-Fi, I suspect the Wi-Fi adapter has failed and would need to be replaced.
If that is the case, I would replace the Mediatek or Realtek card with this more reliable model:
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part # L35282-005.
