I found a card on Amazon, most likely a new one. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. I'll try to get the antenna because I strongly suspect the cable broke near the hinge as it was bent several thousand times. The notebook is almost 9 years old. Until I find an antenna, I use a USB WiFi dongle, which works perfectly by the way.

In the end the error was a hardware issue. Both antenna cables were broken. Probably a known problem with a notebook that is 7 years old. Luckily I got a replacement part through e-bay. A Youtube video helped to disassemble and reassemble the Noteboot.
