Hi @Michaelv416, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion 17 Notebook is connected to Wi-Fi but has no internet access, while other devices work fine, try these steps:

Basic Troubleshooting

Restart Everything

  • Restart your laptop.
  • Restart your router/modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.

Check Another Network

  • Try connecting your laptop to a mobile hotspot or another Wi-Fi network.
  • If it works, the issue might be with your router settings.

Network Settings Fixes

Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi
  • Click on your Wi-Fi network and select Forget
  • Reconnect by entering the password again.

Run Network Commands (CMD)

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and enter these one by one:
    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ip reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns

  • Restart your laptop.

Check Network Adapter Driver

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
  • Expand Network adapters → Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Select Update driverSearch automatically.
  • If the issue persists, Uninstall the driver and restart the laptop. Windows will reinstall it.

Check for Proxy & DNS Issues

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy → Turn OFF "Use a Proxy server."
  • Set DNS to Google DNS:
    • Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
    • Right-click on Wi-Fi adapterProperties.
    • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)Properties.
    • Use the following DNS:
      • Preferred: 8.8.8.8
      • Alternate: 8.8.4.4
    • Click OK and restart.

Still Not Working?

Try Safe Mode with Networking

  • Restart your laptop and hold F8/F11 (or Shift + Restart).
  • Select Safe Mode with Networking.
  • See if the internet works.

Check Firewall & Security Software

  • Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall and check.
  • If disabling helps, add exceptions for your network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
