If your wifi card looks like this (see below), then you have the Half Mini Card form factor, and that was the best card available.

If you want to try a different card with the same specs, try the Broadcom equivalent...

Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001.  It would also look like the one below.

15 Zbook g2 has a m2 wifi card. The g has a half...both have been having driver issues but the Z15 G2 drops sometimes every few minutes & it already happened 2X in 10 min...

Arrrghhh

Its the longer wifi card

I read on another thread in HP that a 9260 was successfully installed in a 6th gen. I also read it will work down to a 4th gen HP. Thing is there are so many formats of the card... For ex if you look at a AC8260 you will find least 3 hp part numbers.

Something in the WFM 1st 4 letters is a code & not all will work...Now to figure the code. I don;t even know the code on the 9260 that worked. 9260's were funny & in the early production there were many floating around before they were widely released from China & were suspect to be 2nds or even counterfeit...So this wifi game is like playing Russian roulette.

Seems a 9260 can work as can the 8260 but I'm not sure where I want to go. Could even try a few dollar 7260 AN...its cheap as I don;t have a AC router anyway & see what that does...Still I don;t know if its the wifi card or drivers. Maybe drivers for the 9260 are fritzy too espescially with the older gen processors... I have seen different gold pin set ups on these wifi cards so finding one that is fully functional is not that easy esp since intel does not want anything to do with a wifi card that it not in an oem format...P1200819 (2).JPG

My wfm starts with an A some start with an E & it runs the gambit...There are also vpro wifi cards & non v pro...so right now I have to just try to figure it out. I'm tired of reading the event viewer all the time. It might even be some code misfunction as my router is puttin g out mega FEC errors...still only the Zbook 15G2 is droppping & dropping all the time! Arrghhh

So the HMF or half mini was better???? I have it in my Z 15 G...Why did they then put a M2 in a later model Z 15G2 then? Always figured they made changes for the better not worse...

Thats on the motherboard I suppose & I watched HP change the motherboard on my Z15G & its not easy!!! So half or not half...they stay!...LOL

I know its slightly off topic but wonder if the 7260AC HMF would replace the N6235 in my Z 15G? Don;t suppose its much better since I don;t have an AC router...I have an elitebook 8570 i73630 with a N6300...its supposed to be a fast one but it has 3 antennas...

I always wondered why they put a N6235 in a Zbook///Ohhh well, I guess one problem at a time...Kind of getting into playing ,musical wifi cards!

OK, so your G2 does have the M.2 form factor...

I would go for the 9260 and be done with it.  It's not that expensive.

What processor does your older Z Book have with the 6235 in it?

if it has an Intel 3rd gen processor, you can most likely upgrade to this card...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon, and won't cost very much.

You must have a defective M.2 card in your G2.

I can't see any reason why it isn't working well.

I don't know why HP didn't put the 7265 AC card in that model.  I guess it hadn't come out yet.

Well that is promising!!!! I found a new 9260 (no v pro I think)  for $18 & he says he'll take it back if it does not work

Zbook 15G is a i7 4800MQ its a vpro I think...quite a nice laptop with the better display but not the dreamcolor one...

My Z 15G is still 4th gen & higher speed than the G2...They are comparable///Must have been a late Z 15G...I love it & I got a new motherboard in it from HP as when I got it it still was on warranty. It a Nvidia K1100 though & its troublesome. The G2 had the firepro M5100

Both I am very happy with

Thanks! Well just ordered part number sps 920687-001 OA    9260NGW. Should have it in a few days...Going in a Zbook 15 G2 i7 4710MQ to replace the 7260 AC...Crossing my fingers...$18 new...& returnable if it does not work...

I think the v pro model is sps 940565-001 OA...I hope!!!! My i7 is not a V Pro.

In t he mean ttime I'll limp along & get 9260 drivers...LOL

I still have only a N router 2.4 ...So hoping this card works on that??? Am I ok??? I guess I could cancel in next hour...???

HP Recommended

I think it will work just fine.

Yes, on the single band router, it will connect at at least 144 MB/S.

So if your older ZBook with the Intel 6235 has a 4th gen processor, you can upgrade to the HMC version of the 7260 that I have.

I got the same part number and bought one that came from China.

I was in no hurry and paid like $17 bucks for it.

Mine works fine, so I think your 7260 M.2 has got some kind of hardware issue.

HP Recommended

Thats what the AC 7260 gets 144...Its about all you can get from a 2,4... Not sure what's up with it...intel has drivers for it til 5/29/2019...Tried them all & even went back to 2018 drivers in case...think the MS 2015 is running now. No matter what I do its dropping like crazy.  Well, I hope the 9260 works with it...Its worth a chance to get a newer model if I have to buy & not another 7260.

They all get about the same crappy  speed but I am on a real budget plan...It cheap...so you get what you pay for!!! LOL

I'll look for a half 7260 for the z book...still the N6235 gets the same speed...They all will max out 144 as my crummy ATT router gets me 3 MBps on avg ...maybe 3.5 max & then down to a paulty 1MBps even doe=wn to 100kbps snail speed sometimes so getting a fast card with this router & speed of service on dsl is really only for stability & future with drivers & wind 10 updates,,,

I just got some drivers...I'll have to get them again on another computer & put them on a dvd as they could be getting corrupted when the wfi cuts 12X & up over 100X!,,,yikes

Wow a whole hour & no drop!!! oooohhh...Thanks!!!!

Got to do someother things as spend almost all my time on this for over a week but I have to grab drivers from another computer as this one might just be messing up the files if its going a giggy dance when its coming in...
