Trepadaciously excited...wifi 9260 is being delivered in todays afternoon mail...
I put away the Z 15G2 as it was disconnecting the wifi every few minutes.
The Z 15G's wifi N6235 has been stopping & disabling itself for about 3 weeks now too!!!
What is it with these Z's???
I think the 15ZG is a conflict with drivers or guess 2 wifi cards could fails at the same time just my luck...
That one is a half size...Been looking into upgrading that one too but because of the form I think the
AC or N 7260 is going to be its limit...
What part number 7260 wifi card would work on the 15G running a N6235?
I've found the HMW
Intel Wireless-N 7260BN 802.11b/g/n 2×2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter part # 717384-001
just the N version
AC version 761661-001
There is the AC half mini too & not sure which would be better as I don;t have AC & donlt think I will get it soon & ATT internet is lousy but I guess if an AC will work its best to get that one.
Also saw a 3160 wifi but its a 1X1 but it lists speeds of 433 compared to 300. 710662-001
Well guess I should do the Z 15G2 first but both these are my mainlaptops...
15G2 is in the LR closest to the router say 15 feet & would have to go thru a LR if it did not swing around it
15Z in bedroom also about 15 feet but thru the kitchen wall
Should I delete the old wifi card drivers before shutting down & switching the wifi cards?
Thanks

Hey, I think the current drivers support both the 7260 & the 9260 so I think I should leave it alone & just switch the wifi card & go from there???
HAHA Turned on the 15 G2 & the wifi is working....shut it down & it was not!
Well it was up for about a minute anyway!!! LOL
One of the same things:
Default gateway not available...(thats the router???)
Well the new card is coming so Ill switch it & hopefully it accepts it & we;ll take it from there...
Thanks

Checked programs & features
I have 5 windows driver packages installed for netnNb64
first intel 18.31.14.3 9/3/18
then 4 netwtw 02 then 04 then 06 then 08 dated 9/3/18 to 11/1/18
Last is intel ver 20.100.0.4
Looks like it has all 4 versions of the drivers installed... I was just adding drivers to find one that worked but it looks like 5 previous versions is intsalled at same time.
Should the previous versions be deleted??? Maybe its conflicting???
I'm also running on a driver from the 4/29/2019 intel so all of them appear to be old 2018 versions...
Thanks

When you install the new wifi cards, uninstall the old wifi card and driver in the device manager.
Right click on the wifi adapter, select uninstall. Check the uninstall driver box.
Shut down the PC, remove power and battery and install the new card.
Also do the same for the Bluetooth adapter, and if there is any Intel Bluetooth software in the Windows control panel>programs, uninstall that too.
Download the latest Intel wifi and Bluetooth drivers from Intel first, so you can install them on the new card.
The AC 7260 AC HMC part number I recommend is the one I got...mine works great. Never had one issue with it.

OK...Will do that...I thought as the old drivers are aslo good for 9260 I did not have to but then again I want it to see the new wifi card...right??? I'm not a geek at this but I'm somewhat knowledgeable...LOL
So I should uninstall those 5 driver packages in programs too??? I know implied but not stated but I just want to be sure
Yes, thanks for the reminder as forgot that the blue tooth is on the card. I think I have it disabled as I don't use it..
I already downloaded all the wifi & blue tooth drivers already for the current & older versions just in case on the 15G2 but am worried in case any got corrupted as the darn wifi cut out so much
If I can't access the laptop for some reason I'll have to get them on another laptop& install them in by cd...
I might do that now as I don't trust anything I downloaded as the wifi was so erratic. Don;t know the chance of corruption but certainly is higher with long downloads & luckily these drivers were small & quick.
You have been great!!!
Hope to come back with good news!!!
Thanks

What about old sp updates from HP?
Should they be uninstalled?
I've never uninstalled any as I just add new...
Would they be a problem with a install of a new wifi card?
I uninstall the 4 oldest driver packages in programs from windows.
I left the most recent 2018 one but I am running the lasted & last drivers for the 7260 4/2019 which also applies to the 9260.
Should I delete that remaining win driver package for netwtw08 which was a 5th add on to the netnNb64 which I am assuming in the wifi card?

Well both the 9260 AC & the patriot 128 mb flash usb (lucky some honest neighbor who was gifted in by usps left it fo me) made it here today..after some hunting & choice words with the mail carrier...Now do I want to take the plunge & switch the wifi card or maybe be safe & back up...ooohhh...
My luck has been so bad I am hesitant...least its not my only gateway to the internet or I'd be in trouble...
I guess only way to know if to try & then take it from t here....wish me luck///
