Facing an issue with the HP EliteBook 840 G5 (Windows 11 pro) internet connection not working, but it is still connected to WiFi (since last night).
The Problem:
The taskbar shows that the laptop is connected to the internet, but it's not working (stopped working suddenly).
Observations:
- It isn't affecting other devices on the network
- It started from yesterday night (maybe after any update)
- There are only between 2 and 4 devices connected to the router at any one time
Attempted Fixes:
- Implemented this video till 6:08 min. (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dANypatfiwY#)
- Restarting laptop
- Restarting router
- Forgetting the Wi-Fi network and reconnecting
- Rolling back wifi driver
- Checking I'm updated for both Windows and drivers
- Running network troubleshooter
- Changing IP address & DNS settings
- Disabling Windows firewall
- Resetting network settings
- Moving to get a better wifi signal
- Deleted the network adopter driver
- Reinstalled the Network drivers from Hp website (windows 11 version 22H2)
And now it's showing connecting and disconnecting randomly but still not working.
Please suggest solutions for this.
Thank you in advance. Attaching images below for some help.

Could be something very strange because after 6 years, for the first time with NO reason I've got message my machine (also 840 G5) "is getting problem". It then rebooted itself.
I upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 few days ago but yours is still running Windows 11 23H2. My suggestion
1. Download wifi driver and save it on your machine,
2. Open Device Manager and remove/delete Intel 8265 drive then reboot
3. Install download file then reboot.
Hope this helps

Since there are no software/drivers available for HP EliteBook 840 G5 Windows 11 version 23H2 on the HP website, I downloaded the network drivers available for 22H2, but it didn't work out. I looked for a Wi-Fi driver for Windows 11 and found this post (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/Wifi-Driver-for-Windows-11/td-p/85224...), and in the comments I found the wifi driver shared by someone (https://support.hp.com/soar-attachment/905/col113634-ob-296690-1-ob-296690-1_sp142005_releasedoc.htm...) so I also download it but it didn't work out too. I have performed the other 2 points you mentioned, but it's still not working.
Sharing below the two images to show the difference of network adopters listed before and now. Initially when I hadn't followed any tutorial or instructions the network adopters in device manager was listed as image one (had something listed that was ended with a word adapter, this image is taken as a reference from the post link mentioned above) but as I mentioned in my post (above/previous) I uninstalled it after watching the tutorial(mentioned in my post) so now it's not showing at all even after attempting your instructions or whatever I found on the internet.
Looking forward to your response.
