Pavillion 15-ab223na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I broke the small connector which connects the wireless antenna to the card on the motherboard, so I need a replacement antenna. Could anyone please help regarding where to find the part?

According to a video on the HP site, https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04851637, this shows the part labelled as X15A00019

DQ614A00019

JPC2AXD523

but any search for these numbers turns out to be fruitless.

Also, my laptop has the realtek rtl8723be 802.11 bgn wifi adapter with two antenna sockets labelled 1 and 2, but the laptop only has a single antenna fitted. Can I fit two antennae?

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.

You will find the antenna part number listed in chapter 3 on page 4, item 4.

The illustration shows only one antenna.

Thanks for this.

Interesting that the manual acknowledges the single-antenna models, but only lists a single antenna part number, which is for the dual antenna.

However, the laptop lid seems to be the same for all modes covered by this manual, which means that it has the correct spaces for the dual antenna. I'm thinking I'll just replace the WLAN module with the Intel dual band one and buy the double antenna. Seems to be impossible to find the single antenna anywhere.

You're very welcome.

Thought I'd just post a quick update to let you know how I got on, in case it can be useful for others.

I bought the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265NGW WiFi+Bluetooth 802.11AC Card (part number 784644-005) and the double WLAN Antenna & Cable Kit (part number 809008-001) on Ebay. Fitting them was an absolute doddle and the double antenna fits perfectly into the screen casing, as the same casing is used for all 15-ab models.

The card's WLAN device was recognised immediately by the laptop, although I still updated the driver anyway. The Bluetooth device came up as an unknown device, but as soon as I updated the driver, it was recognised and showed no errors.

Result: Far better wifi than before with 2G, 5G and Bluetooth all working brilliantly.

That is great news.

Enjoy!
