HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p234tx

I have installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop model "HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p234tx".

Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-15-p200-notebook-pc-series/model/7598170?sku=L0L20P...

After the installation, the laptop's Wi-Fi option disappeared. I can't turn it on or connect to a Wi-Fi network. I checked the drivers for this model on the HP website, but it says that drivers for this product are not found.

Could anyone provide a link to the wifi driver based on the above info so I can connect to wifi?

Your help is truly appreciated.

Thank You

Below is the link to the W8.1 driver for your notebook's Intel 3160 AC Wi-Fi adapter:

You will also need the Intel Bluetooth driver:

Thank you for your suggestions, I installed both drivers and restarted the laptop. The Bluetooth driver works fine but LAN driver did not work to show wifi options.

You're very welcome.

When the wifi adapter needs a driver, there will be a device in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller.

If you see that device, please post the hardware ID for it so I can figure out what driver it needs.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager

The parts list for your notebook indicated that it has an Intel 3160 AC Wi-Fi adapter.

I found the following IDs in Network Controller properties:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_00708086&REV_83
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_00708086

Hi:

That was the correct driver I gave you.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted.

; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B2&SUBSYS_C3708086 , \
; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_00608086 , \
; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_00628086 , \
; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_00708086 , \
; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_00728086 , \
; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_01708086 , \
; PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_01728086 , \

See if manually installing the driver from the Network Controller device in the device manager works for you:

Go to the device manager.

Click on the Network Controller needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for driver software' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the Wi-Fi driver.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp70883.

Make sure that the Include Subfolders box is checked and hopefully the driver will install that way.

one last thing, can you please point me to the source/link from where I can download other drivers like brightness control, mouse driver etc?

Unfortunately, support for the model series has been retired.

I had to get the wireless driver from a HP business notebook that had the same Wi-Fi adapter.

We are currently not allowed to post links to third party driver sites.

I have submitted a request to allow this since HP has decided not to support PC's that are over 10 years old for drivers.

However, I don't see anything improper with letting you know that the DriversCollection.com website has most of the drivers HP released for your notebook's model series.

I use the site all the time and the drivers are legitimate and virus free.

Just do a search for your notebook model and include in the search the website name and you should be able to find drivers that hopefully will work for you.

That is how I found they have drivers for your notebook.

You need to install the Inte chipset, and graphics driver and the NVidia graphics driver in order to adjust the brightness.
