Wireless button F12 doesnt work

Since I didn't upgrade my OS during the free upgrade period from win7 to win10, I reinstalled completely my laptop few days ago and currently I have windows 10 education edition (free edition from university). Some of the drivers were already installed with the windows 10, some of them got installed during the windows update. After I have checked the Device Manager, there is still Unknown Device and the Device Instance Path is (ACPI\HPQ0004\2&DABA3FF&0), so when I googled it turned out that is something connected with the HP Quick Launch Buttons driver. I installed the latest version of the HP Quick Launch Buttons (sp55150) and my wireless connection button is still not working. The strange thing is that all of the other F buttons are working without any problems (brightness, sound, help button, display button etc.) and also the wireless button when pressed, changes the color from white to orange and other way as well. It is very annoying that I can't set it done, after many times installing and reinstalling the driver.
I also tried to download the wireless button driver (sp77545) but I somehow can't install it since I am getting the error message 1722 the whole time. Also tried all the Microsoft recomendation solutions but none of them worked.

Please help me somehow because it is very annoying and also not good from HP side that not all of the drivers are updated for the Windows 10.

Hi:

The driver you need for the 0004 is not the quick launch buttons but this one...

This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.

Perhaps you weren't aware that HP does not support your notebook for W8, W8.1 or W10.

Since they don't support your model series for W10, they don't provide any driver support for W10.

Your model doesn't need the wireless button driver for the F12 key to work because unless you have an unknown device in the device manager with a hardware ID of ACPI\HPQ6001, the hardware doesn't exist.

You have a problem with the wireless card not being compatible with W10, and it is not working--even though the driver may be installed.

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with a Ralink wireless network adapter.

When you go to the device manager and click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, do you see the Ralink wireless network adapter listed there?   You should be seeing that device listed there.

If the Ralink wlan adapter is not listed there, then there is a problem that I wouldn't be able to help you with.

If the driver is not installed you should see a device listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller.

If the driver is installed, you should see the Ralink wlan adapter under the Network Adapters device manager category.

Not showing up at all is not good.

There is a W10 wireless driver you can try for that model card, but it may be too new to work with the hardware version of the Ralink wlan card your notebook has.

This package contains the driver installation package for the Mediatek Bluetooth in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

First of all, thanks for the quick reply and Merry Christmas 🙂

I installed the HP 3D DriveGuard and I dont see the unknown device anymore.

The driver from Railing wireless is installed (Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter) the whole time. My button is not working even after I have installed the other driver you suggested me.

I guess I just have to forget about this button, which is very sad since I used it quite often.

Sorry the updated Ralink driver didn't fix the issue.

It's hard to say why the F12 wirless key doesn't work if the wlan card is working, and you have no unknown device that needs the wireless button driver, but as you wrote, unfortunately, you will have to live without that feature, unless someone else had that same issue, and found a way to fix it.
