Unfortunately, I have no idea where you are going to find updates on the status of the Realtek wifi card issue.
I read posts on this forum to see if there are any new developments.
The hardware ID you posted is a Intel(R) PCI Express Root Port #9 - 9DB, device, which tells me that you need to install the latest chipset driver for that device.
The chipset drivers on your notebook's support page are not the newest ones out there.
Give this one a try and see if it resolves the issue...

You know what, this looks like it may have done it. I'm pinging my router and on the whole it seems fairly stable. Thank you!
A few small questions for my own understanding:
- Where did you find that "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9DB0&SUBSYS_84C5103C&REV_F0" is the RCI Express Root Port #9?
- How did you know the chipset drivers on the support pages aren't up to date?
- How do you get to the FTP links you used if HP aren't updating the support pages?
I just want to make sure I have everything I need to be able to troubleshoot these things in the future!

A. I googled the hardware ID and found that information posted on one of those ubiquitous driver update sites.
They are extremely useful for identifying the hardware.

A: Since I like to help folks with drivers, that is where I do the most research.
As I explained to another forum member yesterday or the other day, HP rarely if ever, updates drivers for their consumer class PC's unless there is a known issue with any of the drivers posted on the support page, or subsequent Windows releases render the drivers unworkable...and they will only update drivers to this extent for about 2-3 years.
There isn't much you can do about it but what I do is I match the hardware with a comparable business class notebook...not necessarily the size and whatnot, but the processor and chipset specs.
Here's the thing...HP updates the business class notebook driver pages more frequently because when you buy a business class PC, you pay a lot more for a similarly spec'ed business PC than you do for a consumer class PC. Better driver support is rolled into those costs no doubt.
So, your notebook as a whiskey lake processor and chipset, and I went to a business class notebook with the same chipset and processor series...in this case a Probook 450 G6.
I went to your notebook's driver page, and found that the Intel chipset driver is older than the one on the 450 G6's support page.
Your PC's support page is below...notice the version and date of the Intel chipset driver.

However, on the 450 G6's support page, there is a newer Intel chipset driver...

A: If the driver on the business class notebook's support page is newer than the one on the consumer model in question, that is where I get the driver from.
Hardware is hardware. As long as you have the same model chipset, wifi, ethernet, etc, you can usually install newer drivers from a different model PC. There are some exceptions, but I have been pretty successful helping folks out using this method.
So, unless you have an indepth knowledge of the HP business PC models and specs, you will probably have to rely on someone like me to help you out, which is not a problem for me at all.

Thanks Paul, I did try and google the hardware ID but had no results.
It hadn't crossed my mind that they would be prioritise the business customers over consumer which of course would be the case. I just didn't realise that meant the drivers were in better nick there too.

Regarding the HP version of the RTL8822BE wifi adapter...
I recommend checking the 250 G7 business notebook's support page from time to time.

Eventually a reliable driver may make it to that support page.
Right now there is an older version listed there as you can see, than what I posted yesterday from Microsoft.
The nice thing about checking the HP driver, is you can see the fixes and enhancements, where on the Microsoft site, there is just a raw driver.
