Since the past two weeks, my laptop goes to bluescreen whenever I use utorrent software. Bluescreen does not occur if I am not using utorrent or if I am using utorrent on a wired connection.
Bluescreen occurs only when I use utorrent on a wireless connection.
I have discussed the matter on the utorrent forum. They have gone through dmp files and identified that my wireless network adapters are crashing.
How do I solve this problem? Everything runs fine on a wired line or if I do not use utorrent, even on wifi, laptop works fine.
Otherwise, within 10 minutes, I get a bluescreen.

Hi @johngalt1978,
A warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I understand that you require assistance regarding blue screen issues with utorrent. I will be delighted to assist you with this.
Spectacular troubleshooting, superb description and splendid analysis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 You are a valued Hp customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.
- Did this happen recently?
- Did it happen after a windows or software update? Do you know?
This is a third-party application that is not supported by HP and we don’t recommend installing it also. As you’ve contacted their forum support and it keeps crashing the Wi-Fi drivers I would recommend you to try these steps:
Please try a system restore to an earlier time before the issue started and check if the issue is corrected from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545 and please select the option “Restore your computer when Windows starts normally”
If it gets corrected great, otherwise please try these steps to update the bios, chipset and network drivers:
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Network adapters>then select the wifi adapter listed and click on uninstall. Then check the box that says delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the bios, chipset and Wi-Fi adapter drivers from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/7486459/model/7584...
- Please select the operating system the unit and follow the on-screen instructions to update it.
- Then please restart the computer and check if it connects and goes online.
- Before uninstalling and updating the Wi-Fi drivers as there may be several on the website, please make a note of the name of your Wi-Fi adapter driver from device manager.
- Then check if the issue gets corrected. If it does not, please make sure that you install a lower version of the utorrent software and check again. This should do the trick for you.
- Also, you could try with a similar different application although such applications are not recommended.
- Finally, please backup all your files and perform a system recovery to factory settings from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/7486459/model/7584268/document... and select the most appropriate option.
As a last resort, If the issue still persists, a good workaround is to procure a wifi USB dongle and plug it to one of the USB ports. Then connect to the router with it. It is extremely cost effective and economical. You could get it for a song from a local BeSt Buy or Staples location.
Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
