Hi:
Is there a wireless switch, key or button to turn on?
Check the user guide for your notebook for the location of this switch.
Look at chapter 2, pages 5 & 6 of the user guide for the location of the wireless button.

Hi:
See if installing this utility and restarting the PC allows you to turn on the wireless network adapter by using the software interface.
This package contains the HP Wireless Assistant for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The HP Wireless Assistant is a user application that provides a way to control the enablement of individual wireless devices (such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or WWAN devices) and that shows the state of the radios for these wireless devices.

There is also a newer driver you can use for the BCM wireless card your notebook has...

I have installed both the driver 1 by one. non of them are working. wifi icon is not showing in hp wireless asistant nor in windows mobility center. Please check the image to get an idea.
You can see at the task bar connect has a cross mark.
Also many number of missing driver in device manager under other devices.
I cannot find any option to get them work too.
For wifi some one in other forum asked to cange the properties setting of driver but that dint help either.
Please help the drivers that you gave me are not even showing in device manager.
what could be the issue?

Hi:
The wireless card isn't even showing up in the device manager. It is as if the notebook didn't have wireless.
I don't see it listed in the wireless assistant as a device to enable either.
The wireless card may have gone bad on you. Try removing and reseating the wireless card. Sometimes the connections get oxidized. See if you can do it without removing the antennas.
The other drivers you need are these...
Base system devices:
This package contains the JMicron Card Reader driver for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45046.exe
One of the unknown devices probably needs this driver:
This package contains the software that enables the Quick Launch Buttons on the keyboard to be programmed for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. This application enables menu control of various bezel buttons, such as volume, internal/external display, and mute on/off; HotKeys; and Docked Events.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46731.exe
Another of the unknown devices probably needs this driver:
This package contains the ENE CIR Receiver Driver for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45045.exe
The last one probably needs this driver:
This will install HP 3D DriveGuard, which provides protection for a notebook computer's internal disk drive if the computer is accidentally dropped or abruptly hits another object. This package is available on supported notebooks with supported operating systems.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53462.exe
I don't know what driver you need for the ADB interface.

Thanks a lot for your detailed message. I am realy glad that you have givven all the solutions. I do not words to thank you.
I also think the might have gone. How can i remove it myself? also where is that card located?

You're very welcome.
Here is the link to the service manual for your model.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01758220
The wlan card removal and replacement procedure can be found in chapter 4 on pages 74 - 75.
Looks easy enough to get to.
Now if removing and firmly reseating the card doesn't work you will probably have to get a replacement.
The card you have is a pretty good one, so get the same one with the same part number on it.
You can only install one of the wireless cards listed in chapter 3 of the service manual and they must have the HP part number on the card or the notebook won't boot up.
Best thing to do is to try and get a used but tested and working card on eBay. They should be real cheap.
Query by the part number, not the model card.

when i click on more info it suggested to change in bios but there is no setting regarding it in bios as well. wat to do?
