I have HP folio 1040 G1 with window 7 Elitebook. I am facing the problem with wireless network range.
Its wireless is working only within 03 meter of router but other devices like mobiles, same model Elitebook(Folio1040) and Acer laptop is working more than this range above 15 meter. I have compared the drivers in other same model elitebook and found 01 extra driver installed ( Mirosoft virtual wifi miniport adaptor).
Is there any effect due to this driver?
Also I have tried to uninstall this driver but restarting time autoamtically again installeing.
are any hardware issue?
Please provide me support regarding this issue.

Hi
You have a HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Notebook PC,

and the drivers are here...

It would seem to be a HOTSPOT addition.
https://superuser.com/questions/772498/disable-microsoft-virtual-wifi-miniport-adapter-permanantly
AFAIK, the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter is a virtual adaptor for sharing your internet connection (ie. making a wifi hotspot, or 'hosted network').
To disable this, open an elevated command prompt (cmd as admin) and type in the following commands, in order:
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork This stops the hosted network
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow This disables the hotspot.
Permanently is a relative amount of time.

Hi Litlle Boy,
It ( Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter) has been permanantly disable but my issue is still same.
Its wireless network is only working within 10 feet ( 03 Meter ) from wifi router.
Please guide me what can be cause for my issue.
It will be hardware or software?
Your quick response will be highly appriciated.

Hi Little Boy,
Regarding my Elitebook issue answer is not in this drwaing becuase wifi network is working fine close to router (within 03 meter distance) like wired network, only wifi network is not working when away from router more than 03 meter distace. Also I have tried to change the frequency & channels but result is same as was mentioned in drwaings.
My wifi router is working fine dont have any issue because I have 02 more same model folio 1040 elitbooks in my house and these are working fine with this router.
Issue is only in particular Elitebook either Software or Hardware.

Hi
One of the conclusions is to change your adapter, WiFi card, as it could be faulty.
The antenna could be broken or dislodged.
At no point in either of your threads/posts have you given any adapter type or driver etc.
So maybe someone else can offer a solution with next to zero info.
