Pavilion dv7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After upgrading to Windows 10, the wireless function does not work, even though the wireless symbol on f12 shows as blue. In the network settings the wireless switch shows off & can't be switched to on.

This function worked perfectly in Windows 7

Thank you for the actual Product name of your notebook.

Let me take a look.

I will edit this thread to let you know what I have found.

The Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 is a wifi adapter that is compatible with your notebok that has Windows 10 drivers available. the driver is at the folowing link.

You can swap it out yourself since it is easily accessible after removing the hard drive bay cover. See page 21 of the manual at the following  URL.  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842278

I have seen them on eBay for @$20.00 USD

Which wifi adapter is installed? (brand and model)

Use the device manager or HP supoprt assistant to determine that.

An alternative method is to tap the F1 key immediately after pressing the power button. Take a look near the bottom of the list. Post the WLAN FCC ID.

Try setting the BIOS settings to default.

The Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 has not been supported for Windows 10 by Intel.

You would be better off replacing the wifi adapter with one that has Windows support.

You can also use a usb dongle that has Windows 10 support as a workaround.

Please identify your notebook with a complete product name or product number.

I provided a link with instructions on how to identify a notebook. Have you read them?

With an older unit like yours there should be a service tag seen inside the area vacated by removal of the battery.
