HP G7 1116sg
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Everybody,

iam from Germany , so excuse my lousy english.

i`ve got a HP G7 1116sg and want to install a  Wlan AC Modul.

Current Bios-Version is F66.

Do the Notebook got a Whitelist ? Is it possible to install a Wlan AC Modul ?

And if there a Whitlist - is there any Chance to get a Card running who`s not on the Whitelist.

Thank you very much a happy Easter

Your machine was built around mid 2011. As you know, due to the whitelist, the chance to upgrade to AC wifi card is none.  You can use USB options

Few weeks ago, for testing, I bought the following wifi card for my 11 years old machine

Unfortunately my machine uses different format, not M.2, physically won't fit therefore I went to the shop and swap to the following one (I did not have to pay more, they are same price):

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Networking/Adapters/67965-USB-AC53-NANO

And it works perfectly, get same result (download speed) with the 1G wired on same machine.

Regards.

Thank's a Lot,

I've bought an Wlan AC USB 1200 Adapter earlier.

Problem is, i've got DSL 400 at Home and i got only 230 Mbit/s WLAN Speed at my Machine.

I think it's about the USB 2.0 Port who Limited the Speed.

So i thought i could handle the Problem direct and change the integrated WLAN Modul.

Do you think the Speed Limit is because of the USB 2.0 ?

Best Regards Thomas
