After spending many hours in over a week of not beeing unable to connect to any wifi I am here askig for help. Background: Note that my second Hp laptop is running Windows 10 wifi is working fine on the same network and router.
Checking network requirements
You can’t connect to this network (Wi-Fi).
Apparently this occurs occasionally and I have tried many of the solutions –
Adapter RTL8852AE Disable, enable, uninstall, install, device manager reports the adapter is working normally. And the version is the latest and current as per Realtek.
Netsh winsock reset, ip reset, ipconfig release, renew, flushdns Network reset etc etc etc. Followed by many restarts and shutdowns. Nothing has changed or fixed the problem. Wifi was working fine on this laptop on this router and a previous rouer. Is there any way to rest wifi networking to original? or any help is appreciated...Rudi

Hi @RudiF
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you've already tried a thorough set of troubleshooting steps, but your HP ENVY 17t-ae000 CTO still refuses to connect to Wi-Fi. Since your other HP laptop connects fine, the issue seems isolated to this device. Let's go through some additional steps that might help:
Step 1: Forget and Reconnect to the Network
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Click Manage Known Networks.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and click Forget.
- Restart your laptop and reconnect by entering the password.
Step 2: Manually Set Up a Static IP
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Click Properties under your Wi-Fi connection.
- Scroll down to IP Settings and select Edit.
- Change Automatic (DHCP) to Manual.
- Enter:
- IP Address: 192.168.1.150 (or another unused IP)
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (your router’s IP)
- DNS: 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)
- Save and restart your laptop.
Step 3: Disable IPv6
- Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change Adapter Settings.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
- Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
- Click OK and restart your laptop.
Step 4: Reset Network Settings
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings.
- Click Network Reset and confirm.
- Restart your laptop and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
Step 5: Try a Different Wi-Fi Band
If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, try switching to 2.4GHz in your router settings. Some Realtek adapters struggle with 5GHz connections.
Let me know how it goes! 😊

What is the current version of the WLAN driver?
First try installing sp157102 which the link was given by Mr. @Paul_Tikkanen from this thread:
Don't forget, below this is turned off and then on.

- Tried the forget network and reconnect before
- Static option did not work the router requires a preferred domain name
- IPV6 was not enabled
- Finally learned how to examine the log ‘wlanreport’ and found 13 security failures. That was the hint I needed. Somehow security changed on the router and all I needed was to set it back to the default. I should have done that almost immediately.
PS: Tech support at MS could have easily done that when he connected to my computer.
But thank you very much for trying to help…Rudi

Instead of trying 12 things the first thing I should have done was too learn how to look at wlanreport. It told me that security on the router got screwed up. 13 security failures. Thanks for taking the time. Rudi
