I take it you have windows 8 x64?  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5046257/model/5068... please download realtek driver and install it then reboot. Let me know what happenes afterwards to try and fix this for you.

Windows 8 driver is here in that link, you may need to click the change tab to your correct windows http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5046257/model/5068...  under networks tab there should be drivers there...
