Hi @SCHHCC

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your system (likely an HP laptop or device) isn't recognizing the Wi-Fi because the appropriate drivers are missing or not installed. If you're looking for a generic Wi-Fi driver for your Windows 10 device, here's what you can do to resolve the issue:

Steps to Install the Generic Wi-Fi Driver:

1. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, Windows 10 automatically installs the necessary drivers after a fresh installation. Here's how to check for updates:

  • Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
  • Go to Update & Security.
  • Click on Windows Update, then select Check for updates.
  • Windows may find and install the missing Wi-Fi driver.

2. Use Device Manager to Update the Wi-Fi Driver

If Windows doesn't automatically install the correct driver, you can manually search for the driver in Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Network Adapters section.
  • If you see a yellow exclamation mark next to your Wi-Fi adapter, right-click it and choose Update Driver.
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will search for the correct driver and install it if found.

3. Download and Install the Generic Wi-Fi Driver

If the Wi-Fi driver still isn't recognized, you can try installing a generic driver. Here's how:

  • Go to the Device Manager again.
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter under Network Adapters.
  • Select Update Driver.
  • Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  • Choose Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  • In the list, choose Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter (this is a generic driver that often works with many Wi-Fi adapters).
  • Install this driver and reboot your computer.

I hope this helps.
