how do i install itunes on my new laptop

I am trying to update my ipod on my new laptop and the computer isn't recognizing the device.  Is there a program I need to download?

go to https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and click on download. it should start the download.

Make sure your system meet the requierement to download itunes.
