I have fixed the issue myself, it was caused by the Bluetooth adaptor going into sleep, the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth adaptors are on the same card, they are supposed to control power management independently but they do not, i disabled power management on both pieces of hardware and have had no problem since.

Hi @Blank_Disk,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how disruptive it can be when your HP OmniBook 5 laptop keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi especially during browsing, when you're in the flow of work or research. Let's help you get back to a stable connection.

Why Your HP OmniBook 5 May Be Disconnecting from Wi-Fi

There are several possible causes for intermittent Wi-Fi disconnections:

  1. Power Management Settings
Windows may be turning off your Wi-Fi adapter to save power.
    • Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters.
    • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties.
    • Under the Power Management tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

  2. Driver Issues or Conflicts
Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause instability.
    • Visit the Official HP® Support.
    • Download and install the latest Wi-Fi drivers for your model and Windows version.

  3. Network Adapter Settings
Advanced settings like roaming aggressiveness or channel width may affect stability.
    • In Device Manager, go to your Wi-Fi adapter’s Advanced tab.
    • Set Roaming Aggressiveness to Medium.
    • Set Preferred Band to Auto.
    • Set Channel Width to Auto.

  4. Interference or Router Issues
Nearby devices or router settings may cause drops.
    • Try switching your router to a different channel (e.g., from 6 to 11).
    • Use the 5GHz band if available it’s less crowded than 2.4GHz.

  5. HP Network Check Tool
HP offers a built-in diagnostic tool to automatically detect and fix network issues.

I hope this helps.

ok already proceeded through those steps before leaving a message

these settings are unavailable

Advanced settings like roaming aggressiveness or channel width may affect stability.

  • In Device Manager, go to your Wi-Fi adapter’s Advanced tab.
  • Set Roaming Aggressiveness to Medium.
  • Set Preferred Band to Auto.
  • Set Channel Width to Autoi have tried an updated driver and these settings are still not available, i have another laptop, that is wifi 6 capable & does not have this issue, the signal strength is full & my router is set up correctly, it has a feature to detect crowded channels, i have already done this process a while ago, my router is up to date with the latest firmware, my omnibook 5's connection rate is 1.2gb/s, there is no issue with signal, just i will open a tab & it will state i have no connection, the wifi indicator will flash as if i have lost connection, a few seconds later it will reconnect & the page will open, this should not happen, it a strange issue
