Yes, that is correct, but I don't know of any wifi 6 cards that have the HMC form factor.

With an Intel core processor you should be able to install any HMC wifi card you want.

But with an AMD processor, you cannot install any Intel wifi cards in that model series.

In the 15-e models with AMD processors, I always recommend the Broadcom AC wifi card.

Here is a recent conclusion of a discussion where a person just upgraded the wifi card in another old HP model series which has an AMD processor...Success!   This is how we find things out.

Hi:

According to the specs for your notebook, it has an Intel 3rd gen core processor, correct?

If so you can do a direct swap to this model card without a problem.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You can find this card on eBay.  Search by the HP part number not the model of the wifi card.

Before installing the Intel card, uninstall the Ralink wifi and bluetooth adapters and drivers in the device manager.

If there is any Ralink bluetooth software in the Windows control panel, uninstall that too.

Shut down, unplug the PC, remove the battery and replace the wifi card.

hi. thanks for reply but i have questions.i have 3rd gen of intel but how did you figure out i need exactly this wifi card.my laptop is old and i thought it supports only old wifi cards which are included in that maintenance.is there any algorithm?thanks

You're very welcome.

Other forum members have installed that card in their 15-e0xx models, and it worked.

Your notebook is one of a few model series that were made in 2012 and 2013 that don't have BIOS whitelists.

All HP notebooks made in 2011 and earlier have BIOS whitelists.

Most notebooks made in 2012 and 2013 have BIOS whitelists, but not yours.

Most made in 2014 and later do not have BIOS whitelists, with few exceptions.

HP does not provide any info regarding BIOS whitelists, so we rely on feedback from forum members who have experimented with installing wifi cards in different model series.
