@fonolko1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when a laptop shuts off unexpectedly, especially when it seems to have enough charge and isn't overheating. Let's go through a few steps to help diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue.

Check Battery Health

Sometimes, a failing battery can cause sudden shutdowns even if it appears to be charged.

  • Use the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
    3. Select Component Tests > Power > Battery Test.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Test with AC Adapter Only

Try running the laptop without the battery, using only the AC adapter (if the battery is removable). If the laptop stays on, the battery may be the issue.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated BIOS or drivers can cause power management issues.

  • Use HP Support Assistant or manually update:
    1. Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads.
    2. Enter your laptop model.
    3. Download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and graphics drivers.

Perform a Hard Reset

This can clear any residual electrical charge that might be causing issues.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices and power.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect power and turn it on.

Run Full System Diagnostics

To rule out hardware issues:

  • Restart the laptop and press Esc, then F2.
  • Run System Tests > Extensive Test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
