Hello,
I am having a lot of trouble with my local network and file sharing. I have a Dell laptop downstairs and this HP upstairs. Both running windows 10. I was originally having no problems sharing folders and files and anything else between computers. Now I cannot get them to connect and share no matter what I do. I feel like I have tried almost everything. Also, when I go into the control panel and go to advanced sharing options, I turn all of them on and save changes. As seen in the screenshot. It then immediately reverts to the old settings so I can't actually change them. I also have a screenshot of the error message I get when I try to open the folder from my other Dell computer, that I had no problem opening a month or so ago. It WAS accessible, it DID have permission, and it WAS a installed service I was using. Nothing about that error message was true a few short weeks ago. Also keep in mind that I have no problem getting into files that are on the HP computer from my Dell. It is just when I try to access the Dell from this HP computer that I have issues. I have tried all diagnostic tools available from HP. For some reason it will not let me run image assistant and says it can not find any drivers for this product to update. Any help would be greatly appreciated
.

You might be getting into trouble if you are trying to use a Guest account for sharing.
What?
Your network sharing image shows making changes to the Guest Account profile.
Reference
You can't enable the Guest account in Windows 10
A couple of things to try:
Adjust the Network Sharing settings for the "Private profile" section and "Save Changes"
=========================================================================
Included in the Example Image (below)
Places to check mapping , sharing, permissions
NOTE: Ignore the top left section - this section explains setting up Scan to Network folder on a Printer than supports Digital filing. Nice to know if your printer supports the option - not relevant to your current issue.
If you are mounting the different computers across the network, that is, mapping the connection,
Try using the IP address of the target machine.
Mapping the remote machine to the local system > Setup suggestions in box "Dragon Data" (bottom left)
Next / OR
Although SMB 1.0/CIFS is considered a security risk, the following might work and can be considered when other solutions fail to provide the necessary access.
Sharing for CIFS > Setup in right side box, first section "In Windows"
Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off
Next
Recheck / open / adjust the permissions on the folder being shared > right side box, bottom
File Explorer > Navigate to the folder that will be used to save the Scan data
Right-Click on the folder > Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing
Click (Select) Share this folder
Click (Select) Permissions
Beneath Allow > Check each box: Full Control, Change, Read
Click OK to save changes

Hey thanks for the reply. And about that screenshot, It just happened to be on the guest portion. I tried changing the settings in all of the different options and I click save, then I open it back up and they have reverted back like I never changed them and it never saved. Very strange. I think whatever is causing these settings to not save is the issue because when I turn these settings on on the Dell, I am able to access the HP computer no problem. I will try the other suggestions now and let you know what happens. Thanks again

UPDATE: I have tried all of the mentioned fixes and nothing has worked. Around the same time this problem started, my router basically reset and had a changed name and password. Could that be part of the issue? I was also wondering about the workgroup they are both in. Since the router name and password has changed, do I for some reason have to make a new work group for them? I still feel the main issue is that I CANNOT save any changes I make in the advanced network sharing options. It always just reverts back to not allowing file and printer sharing.
