Hi @Daisy328,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Notebook 14-dq1035cl is having trouble connecting to your home Wi-Fi, but it connects to a mobile hotspot. This issue could stem from various causes, such as network settings, Wi-Fi drivers, or the router.

Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Forget Wi-Fi Network and Reconnect

  • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
  • Under Manage known networks, find your Wi-Fi network and select Forget.
  • Reconnect to your Wi-Fi by selecting the network from the list and entering your password.

2. Reset Network Settings

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
  • Scroll down and click Network reset. This will reinstall the network adapters and set all network settings back to default.
  • Reboot your laptop after the reset and try connecting to the Wi-Fi again.

3. Check for Driver Updates

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  • If no updates are found, you can also visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest Wi-Fi driver for your laptop.

4. Change DNS Settings

Sometimes, incorrect DNS settings can block internet access.

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Hardware properties.
  • Under IP Settings, click Edit and change the settings from Automatic (DHCP) to Manual.
  • Toggle IPv4 on and enter the following:
    • Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
    • Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
  • Save the settings and reconnect to your Wi-Fi.

5. Disable Power Management for Wi-Fi Adapter

  • Go to Device Manager again.
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
  • Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck the option that says Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  • Click OK and reboot.

6. Check Router Settings

If your laptop connects to a hotspot but not Wi-Fi, the issue may lie with your router. Try the following:

  • Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
  • Check if other devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) are connecting to the Wi-Fi.
  • Access your router's admin page and ensure that there are no restrictions (such as MAC address filtering) preventing your laptop from connecting.

7. Reset TCP/IP and Flush DNS

Resetting your network stack can fix many connectivity issues:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" and right-click to run as admin).
  • Run the following commands one by one:

    netsh int ip reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns

  • Restart your computer after running these commands.

8. Use Compatibility Mode (If Driver Issues Persist)

If you suspect the Wi-Fi driver may not be fully compatible with Windows 11, you can try running it in compatibility mode:

  • Download the Wi-Fi driver from HP’s website for an older version of Windows (e.g., Windows 10).
  • Right-click the installer and select Properties > Compatibility.
  • Select Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose Windows 10.
  • Run the installer and see if it resolves the issue.
