Your notebook and the HP wireless assistant software is not supported by HP for W10.
You can turn the Wi-Fi on or off using the Windows software (airplane mode).
Is the wireless network adapter showing up in the device manager, or is there a device listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller?
The Network controller device means the Wi-Fi adapter needs a driver.
Post a screenshot of your notebook's device manager so I can have a look at what's going on.
