Hi @sharonfreeman55

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your new laptop to a wireless printer, follow these steps. The process can vary slightly depending on whether you're using Windows or macOS, but I'll guide you through both options:

For Windows 10 or Windows 11 Laptop:

Ensure Printer is Connected to Wi-Fi:

  • First, make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your new laptop.
  • If your printer has a screen, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings and connect it to the correct Wi-Fi network. If unsure, refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to do this.

On Your Laptop:

  • Click on the Start menu (Windows logo) and go to Settings.
  • Click on DevicesPrinters & Scanners.
  • Under Printers & Scanners, click on Add a printer or scanner.

Add the Printer:

  • Windows will automatically search for available printers on the network. Once your wireless printer shows up in the list, select it and click Add device.
  • If the printer isn’t showing up, click on The printer that I want isn’t listed, and you may have to enter the printer’s IP address or use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to complete the setup.

Install Printer Drivers (if needed):

  • Windows will usually install the necessary drivers automatically. If it doesn’t, you might need to download the printer drivers from the printer manufacturer’s website (e.g., HP, Canon, Epson).

Set as Default Printer (optional):

  • Once connected, you can set this printer as your default by clicking on the printer in the Printers & Scanners menu and selecting Set as default.

Test the Printer:

  • Try printing a test page to ensure everything is working.

I hope this helps.
