new wifi Intel AC-8265 card with bluetooth but no bluetooth device detected on HP Notebook

Hello,

I have upgraded the wifi card of my HP notebook 15-af127nf, Windows10 64 bits, with a new card Intel AC-8265 wifi + bluetooth.

The original card was only wifi, no bluetooth.

Now, wifi works fine but not the bluetooth:  it can be activated, I have the icon on the task bar, can access to the setting menu but it detects no device (phone, headphones).

Drivers are the last one from Intel. I have tried to install/reinstall these drivers, other drivers... nothing changed (or worse).

I have tried to play with the bluetooth services settings in the services.msc as I have read in some similar topics but everything looks normal and nothing changed...

From what I found on Internet, I seem to have tried everything...

No help from Intel (yes M. Intel, my drivers are up to date).

Any suggestions? This laptop can't receive bluetooth update? Thanks a lot, you are my last chance!

Hi:

Your notebook came with a single band wifi card according to the specs, which means it only had one antenna cable.

The bluetooth doesn't work because it needs the second antenna cable to get reception.

I thought from what I have read that even if there is a single band, the band has several channels to receive both wifi and bluetooth at the same time?

If not, then if I disconnect the wifi, why shoudn't I get the bluetooth signal?

You're very welcome.

If you move the antenna cable to the other terminal, you should have bluetooth, but no wifi.

That card must have two antenna cables to work correctly.

If you want a wifi card where everything works, try this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

You can find the card on eBay.  Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

The card has the same throughput as the RTL8723/RTL8188EE on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router, it has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS.

On a dual band wireless N router, it would have a maximum throughput of 150 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.

and what about adding a secondary antenna cable to connect to the aux pin of the intel card?

You're very welcome.

If you want to go through the trouble of adding a second antenna cable which requires the complete disassembly of the notebook including the display panel area, that would work.

You would need to order the antenna kit listed in your notebook's service manual.

You could probably install it some other way too, but I wouldn't be able to confirm that, or help you with that.
