The specs of your computer is
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_5868647-5868732-16
It came with FreeDOS, did you install wifi and BT drivers for your machine ? Because you may not know what is the wifi card on the following list
- Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless card (Intel vPro)
- Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless card (non-vPro)
- Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 802.11ax (2x2) and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless card (Intel vPro, supporting gigabit data rate)
- Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 802.11ax (2x2) and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless card (non-vPro, supporting gigabit data rate)
- Realtek RTL8852BE 802.11ax (2x2) Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless card
Therefore the best option is connect your machine to a wired network and run Windows update. System should find a right driver and install to your machine. Otherwise you have to open your machine to find the right wifi adapter then find a right driver to install.

I have machine connected to a wired connection - to be able to use the network - and have from day one updated windows regularly but no success.
I did not install wifi and BT drivers for my machine...did I need to before installation???
From installation there has not been any wifi or bluetooth adapters in the device manager.
I have downloaded the suggested drivers from HP however they will not install.
Maybe my answer is to buy a dual wifi/bluetooth usb adapter and plug into my PC.
I thank you for your prompt reply and advice.
cheers
