Hi @StephaniePionee,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer is showing a red X and having trouble connecting to the internet, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off the printer, wait for about 60 seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Restart your router and modem by unplugging them for about 30 seconds before plugging them back in.
Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Make sure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network.
- Ensure that other devices (like your computer or smartphone) are connected to the Wi-Fi network and can access the internet.
Reconfigure Wi-Fi Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Wi-Fi settings menu and select the option to set up a new network connection. Follow the prompts to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
Check Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can usually check this from the printer's control panel or HP Smart app.
Reset Network Settings:
- Access the printer’s settings and perform a network reset. This will clear old network settings and allow you to set up the connection again.
Printer Connectivity Troubleshooter:
- Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool if you have access to a Windows PC. It can automatically diagnose and fix connectivity issues.
Reinstall the Printer:
- If possible, remove the printer from your devices and reinstall it. This can be done via the HP Smart app or by adding the printer through your computer’s control panel.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
