@bmw71, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To connect your HP Laptop PC 15-dw4000 to the internet, follow these steps:
Wi-Fi Connection
- Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled:
- Make sure the Wi-Fi switch on your laptop is turned on (usually a dedicated button or a function key).
- Connect to Wi-Fi Network:
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the notification area (system tray).
- Select the desired network from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
- Enter the network password if prompted and click "Connect".
Ethernet Connection
- Connect Ethernet Cable:
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the laptop's Ethernet port.
- Connect the other end to your modem or router.
- Check Ethernet Settings:
- Your laptop should automatically detect the Ethernet connection.
- In the rare case it does not, go to the Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings to ensure the Ethernet connection is enabled.
Troubleshooting
If you have restarted your computer and still cannot connect to the internet, you might want to:
- Update Network Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager (search for it in the Start menu).
- Expand the "Network adapters" section.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi and Ethernet adapters and select "Update driver."
- Run Network Troubleshooter:
- Go to the "Settings" (Windows key + I).
- Navigate to "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot".
- Select "Internet Connections" and run the troubleshooter.
- Check Router/Modem:
- Ensure that your router or modem is functioning properly.
- Restart the router/modem and check the connections.
- Check Airplane Mode:
- Verify that Airplane Mode is turned off (by clicking the Airplane Mode icon in the system tray or toggling it via the function key).
