Hi @julian190869,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop repeatedly fails to connect to your home Wi-Fi, even though it works fine with your mobile hotspot, and driver updates through Device Manager only worked once. Let’s go through steps to fix this.

Forget and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks.

Select your home network → Forget.

Reconnect by entering your Wi-Fi password.

Restart modem/router and laptop

Power cycle your router: unplug it for 30–60 seconds, then plug back in.

Restart the laptop to refresh network settings.

Update Wi-Fi driver from HP Support

Device Manager may not always get the latest driver.

Go to HP Support → enter your laptop model → Download the latest wireless driver.

Install it manually and restart.

Reset TCP/IP and network stack

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

Restart the laptop and try reconnecting.

Disable power saving for Wi-Fi adapter

Device Manager → Network adapters → right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Properties → Power Management.

Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Check router settings

Ensure your home Wi-Fi is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands supported by your laptop.

Temporarily disable MAC filtering or Wi-Fi isolation if enabled.

Use a static IP (if DHCP issues)

Sometimes DHCP lease conflicts cause repeated failures.

Set a manual IP in Wi-Fi Properties → IPv4 that matches your home network range.

Test in Safe Mode with Networking

Boot the laptop in Safe Mode with Networking.

If Wi-Fi works consistently, a third-party app or security software may be interfering.

I hope this helps.
