I see this is an old post, but I now have this problem. I have searched many forums  and I'm overwhelmed with this issue as I have been dealing with it for about 3 months now. Tried all sorts of things from this and other forums. I have an HP dv7-3160us laptop with Windows 7 Home premium.
I have deleted and reinstalled drivers on my Realtek and Qualcomm adapters.
Tried all sorts of things in cmd.
I have uninstalled Bonjour.

Tried to change the domain from public to home.

I have tried the recommendations by changing the IP address/gateway etc.
I have tried tons of things but nothing fixes this issue.
I have a gateway 2wire moden and no router with this laptop, a desk top and 2 tablets do not have any issues.
Let me know what other information you need.
I'm sick of it. I'm mostly tied to a wired connection.

Here is my cmd ipconfig information:

Hi all,

Just an update with this issue. The unidentified network is caused by my VPN. When the VPN is off the wifi connects fine. I contacted my VPN support and they had me change a myriad of settings and it resolved my connection issues. The unidentifed network still appears in my network and sharing center but if allows me to connect to my wifi connection.  Hope this helps someone else.
