Hi @hardrock3 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to connect your HP Wireless X3000 G3 Mouse to your HP OMEN 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop, follow these steps:
1. Check the Mouse Type
- USB Receiver-Based Mouse: This mouse uses a small USB dongle (receiver) to connect.
- Bluetooth Mouse: This mouse connects via your laptop’s built-in Bluetooth. Verify which type of connection your mouse supports by checking its user manual or packaging.
2. Steps for a USB Receiver-Based Mouse
- Insert the Receiver:
- Plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on your laptop.
- Turn on the Mouse:
- Check if there's an on/off switch on the underside of the mouse, and switch it to "On."
- Wait for Driver Installation:
- Windows 11 should automatically detect the device and install the necessary drivers. A notification will appear once it's ready to use.
- Test the Mouse:
- Move the mouse to check if the cursor moves on the screen.
3. Steps for a Bluetooth Mouse
- Enable Bluetooth on Your Laptop:
- Press Windows + A to open the Action Center.
- Click the Bluetooth icon to turn it on.
- Turn on Pairing Mode on the Mouse:
- Hold down the pairing button (usually found underneath the mouse) until the LED indicator starts blinking.
- Pair the Mouse with Your Laptop:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & Devices.
- Click Add Device > Bluetooth.
- Select your HP Wireless X3000 G3 Mouse from the list of available devices.
- Complete the Pairing Process:
- Follow any on-screen prompts to finish pairing.
- Test the Mouse:
- Move the mouse to ensure it’s working correctly.
Troubleshooting
- Mouse Not Responding:
- Ensure the mouse has working batteries and is switched on.
- For a USB receiver, try connecting it to a different USB port.
- Connection Issues:
- Restart your laptop and attempt the pairing process again.
- Ensure there are no other wireless devices interfering with the connection.
- Driver Updates:
- Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
- Locate your mouse under Mice and Other Pointing Devices.
- Right-click and choose Update Driver.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
