HP Pavilion dv3-4048tx
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello,

I just updated my pc's operating system to windows 8.1.

The AMD(AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series) and Intel(Intel(R) HD Graphics) graphics adapters installed automatically when I connected to internet.

I then tried updating the drivers and it tells me that drivers are up to date.

But the pcs is incredibly slow. and when I shut it down and try to boot back, it fails to start

on about three attempts and finally gives me an uption to restore the system to previous state.

After successfully restoring the pcs, I then disabled the AMD graphics and the system boots successfully

and the performace improved slightly but not up to normal.

How can I install the suitable drivers for the display adapters and have the pcs perform fast as it should.

Or advise me on any alternatives or other  possible solutions to get the pcs performing well and fast.

Pcs Information:

Name: HP Pavilin dv3-4048tx Entertainment Notebook PC

Serial Number:   [Moderator edited Serial Number]

Product Number:   XG158PA

Thanks a lot for your reply and assistance.

with the link you recommended, I have downloaded the CATALYST SOFTWARE SUIT,

but it failed to install on several attempts. During the installation process, the screen goes blank (as they preinformed on the INSTALL MANAGER) and the pc goes off. It restarts immediately but the installation does not continue.

In one installation attempt, the pc could not restart after it went off and thus prompted me to restore it.

Meanwhile, I checked the AMD GRAPHICS on the Device Manager and saw a hazard sign on it.

What next can I do to install it successfully.

Please go to device manager > right click on graphics device > Properties > Details > Hardware IDs > copy and send it to us to provide the exact graphics driver for the PC.

Thanks a lot for your concern and assistance.

I am so happy to see your reply.

I have downloaded the the driver again with the new link you sent.

I have tried installing it to the system on about 3 attempts but it equally failed.

At first the installation was successful but I still saw the "AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series when I checked the DEVICE MANAGER. Suddenly after the installation, the system went off and on restart attempts that failed, I had to restore the system as usual. On other attemps the screen went  black during the instattion. and the system restarts and aborts the intallation process.

These are the steps I took before the installion.

1. I right-clicked the display graphics on the device manager and uninstalled the previous problematic one.

2. I temporarilly disabled the Antivirus on the pc.

3. I temporarilly dissabled the firewall on the pc.

Please, I still need more of your assistances.

Thank you for the information.

Please try and uninstall the driver from control panel > Programs and features > Graphics driver if avaiable.

Please reboot the unit after uninstalling the driver and then try and install the AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver from the link below:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064

Please note that this is the correct driver what you are looking for a AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series for windows 8.1.

In case it fails to install, the issue could be with the graphics card it self, you may contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance without any delay to get your unit diagnosed and serviced by an authorized HP Certified Engineer.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again.
