@shagarmhs,

I understand you are looking for a Windows 8 64bit driver for your Radeon HD5470 card.

What is the product number?

NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.

Did it come with Windows 8 installed or was it upgraded to Windows 8?

Hello s_n_e_d,

HP is not going to support hardware for Windows 8 on any system purchased before Oct 1st 2011.  Most Windows 7 drivers will work in Windows 8.

Have you tried the Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode?

  1. Visit HP Support and get the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware you'd like to try.
  2. Download the driver to your desktop.
  3. Allow the extraction to complete but close the installation process when it comes up.
  4. Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder.  You will see your driver listed here.  They usually have a name like "sp56439".  Navigate to this folder.
  5. Within your driver's folder you will see a "setup.exe" file.  Right click this file and select Properties.
  6. Navigate to the "Compatibility" tab.
  7. Click the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility mode for..." and also select Windows 7 from the drop down menu.
  8. Check the box which says "Run this program as administrator" at the bottom.
  9. Save these changes and double-click the "setup.exe" to begin the install.
  10. Once the install completes reboot your PC and verify the functionality of the piece of hardware.

Please let me know if this helps.

Good luck!

Hi guys,

Yes, I tried to install AMD driver from HP Support Page in compatibility mode but no success 😞
I tried with next driver - sp50640.exe [2010-12-03] Version8.771.1.0

Could you suggest any other solutions for my case?

Thanks for the reply.  I'm sorry it didn't work for you.  I'm out of suggestions, other than downgrading back to Windows 7.  That's what I would suggest.

Good luck!

I too. I have the same video card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 ( HD 5000 series) and same error.

I bought windows 8 64 bits (pro) and I'm very happy with it.

It boots much faster. Everything works better comparing to win 7.

I downloaded and installed the 13.8 beta drivers (amd site)
(amd_catalyst_13.8_mobility_beta.exe)
All ok.
The driver is accepted and the fans are less noisy.
No conflict in device manager.
But when I (re)boot the pc I see a black screen now.

The only thing what helps is clicking once shortly on the power button.
Then another time.
Then I see the normal login screen.

Can you please help me to resolve this black screen, I'm so happy that the drivers are working within win8.

Permanent Solution that i figured out few days ago.

1. Uninstall all Catalyst Software & Drivers - Using: "AMD CLEANUP UTILITY"
      http://www2.ati.com/drivers/amdcleanuputility.exe
2. Download this driver: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53234.exe
3. Install with all extensions marked !
4. During install You can get error about catalyst software but the driver works fine !

Hope it helps !!
