thank you tried this and will see what happens. even if it is the same, at least it is updated wish there were more like you to take the time to help others in need

You're very welcome.

I posted that specific driver because it is the latest one for HP computers that works for all operating systems.

Some of the newer drivers are only for Windows 7/8, which won't be of help to everyone.

I know that the driver I posted solves the issue for any AR5007 wireless card, and I do look for updates occasionally, and will keep the driver updated as long as that file will work for all operating systems.

Best Regards,

Paul

just a quick response to your reply and update. at first (after re boot) i had the same disconnect, and thought, ...oh well..windows 7 again...but when i went to connections i tried re connecting, and instead of having to re set wireless adapter, it just re connected. then i re booted about 20 times in succession leaving about half hour between as this was the time it usually took to lose the connection. 100% working! so you have solved my problem it seems, i am still sceptica, time will tell, but i will post here if things develop, just so as people know what happens when the come here with connection issues.

summing up... i can now recommend updating the driver via my previous reply link it is a zip file. it works and installs over the old driver in windows 7.

nb one noticeable difference i have observed is the connection activates at lighteneing speed once updated, whereas before this i was having to wait, not long, but say...20 seconds for a connect to wi fi, where now it is instantaneous

thanks once again.

another final update. 25/08/2013

had a disconnect/reconnect issue with a speedport router and have discovered that i had to uninstall driver for atheros from uninstal progs. only once this was done and a restart could i download, from toshiba asia the best working driver. any other driver caused issues and also if you do not fully uninstall old driver then new one seems to just install over yet keep the quirks as well. now i have done this i have 100% connectivity. i do hope this, albeit confusing post eventually helps some poor soul.  in all this has taken me 14 months. windows a? still,, technically, it is not windows'es fault

Paul,

I got a wireless card from ebay and just installed it.  When I look in the Device Manager it says 'Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter'.    Is this card capable of WPA/WPA2?

Thanks.

HP Recommended

Hi:

Yes the BCM4321 is capable of WPA2-Personal AES.

I bought the exact same card to replace the AR5007 in my dv6810us, and it works perfectly on both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands in WPA2-Personal AES.

The latest driver for the card is at the link below.

Great!  I'll go ahead and upgrade the security on the router then.

Thanks again for all of your help, knowledge and responsiveness!

About 3 weeks ago my family moved to a new house. We also got new internet service and a new modem (Motorola Surfboard 600N I believe) and a Belkin router.  Since day one I've been having intermittant connection problems. Randomly my wireless will disconnect and turn into the bars with the little *. I click on our wireless network and it will tell me that it cannot connect. Once I hit "troubleshoot connection" it will then reset my wireless adaptor and connect.

I tried the driver you posted in the first post but am still experiencing the disconnects. I'm installing the zip file that was just posted a few posts ago in hopes it works....but any ideas?

Here's the error detail code for my troubleshooting connection.

Paul:

Read through all posts for this problem. I have an AR9485 on a two month old m6-1035dx. Since day one I have had problems with wireless connection. It starts out ok with internet then after a couple of minutes, loses internet - but network connection is ok. I then have to reset the modem. It works fine on other networks. I had a Linksys router (don't know the model) but now I have a Belkin N1 Vision router and have downloaded latest firmware - same problem with both. Also have updated driver for AR9485.

My main question is this. When I bought the computer it had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. The problem didn't go away with new OS. Will the driver you posted on first post work with Windows 8? If not, any suggestions?

Hi, essenceofire:

Try a different broadcast channel on your router like 11 or 1.

Hi, sibdeb:

You can try the W7 driver I posted and see if that makes a difference, also the same advise, try changing the router's broadcast channel to 11 or 1.
