i tried what you said and i still nedd the end of a head phone piece to be in my mic jack just to hear the sound from my built in speakers i tried changing the default device like you said but it will not let me because the headphone has a handset beside it so i cant uncheck the other box as you can see below sound pics

Are you responding to my solution? It worked first time, without issue.

no i was reply to G02 but i did try yours as well and it made it worse for me but i will redownload it and try it again did you ever have the problem i had or did you  not get a driver at all (the problem i have is i have to plug in a end of a headphone into my mic jack just to get sound out of my built in speakers and if i want to use head phones i got to still leave it in the mic port  then plug up the head phones

No.  I loaded the driver and all worked straight away.  I don't believe that I had changed any BIOS or other software settings either -- so basically a standard Win10 load, with the driver I suggested.  The driver I suggested is by the company that purchased IDT Audio, and was the closest match to the HP specs.

Hi Gorcla.

You're topic matched the issue I was having, but the solution didn't work for myself.  I found an alternative solution, and posted it, in the hope it may help others.

You can unfollow the post if you are happy with the solution provided to yourself.
