Until HP send us the new Audio driver.  The best way is disable AMD audio device from control panel.  Then use your headphone or USB microphone as an audio source.  I did try to reset to the audio device driver.  It is more stable than current version.  But it still happen "cannot find audio device" occasionally.   I need zoom meeting several times a day, very annoy, until I got the USB mic from amazon.

I have though of this as it may be the only solution as of now.  I hope there will be a driver update that will fix this completely.  I actually moved on to another device to avoid this issue completely because I am not home when laptop is being used for school. There is enough stress having my kid log in on time and paying attention to class to have him or his caretaker worry about shutting down and re-logging into video chat while missing part of his class.  Do you recommend any specific microphone?

I had already auto-detected Radeon drivers multiple times;  it works for some time but then randomly ocurrs during online meetings again.  I had seen your solution on other similar posts and have installed the driver you uploaded in a zip file, altough I havent been able to see if it still ocurrs because I use it for online school and I am not home while it is in use.  I had my son use an iPad instead, but it defeats the purpose of getting this laptop.  When I try it myself or when I have had HP support chat and view my live desktop, it does not ocurr.  It happens sometimes, not always.  If this driver you uploaded would serve as a solution, what happens when new drivers are updated, would this issue re-ocurr?

@Blyat, @Mmac05, @Chewy718, Did you get a solution for this issue?

You may  go to bestbuy or order from amazon to get a USB microphone or just use the earbud with microphone for you phone to plug in to the computer.  When zoom start, you can select the your new mic.  Don't forget to disable the AMD audio device from control panel > device manager

This is a great notebook, but the audio problem has bothered me for awhile until use new mic.

I agree the laptop is overall good except for this annoying issue.  I appreciate your suggestion.

I was trying out the driver uploaded by Paul in several other threads.  Audio just crashed mid zoom session: loud sound, microphone not working message (although this time the driver with error message in device manager was Multimedia Controller).  I tried resetting but I had to force shutdown to get the sound to stop.  I downloaded Radeon graphic drivers from AMD again and was able to log back in to video chat after update and reset.  I am beginning to think Charle's suggestion of buying an external mic will be only solution, at least until the next update.  I really thought this would be a better buy than a $300 chromebook, but am really disappointed that I have to purchase external accesories to make this laptop serve it's purpose.

Like Blyat, I am an IT professional as well.  I have experienced mic and speaker issues on Zoom meetings since Day One of my brand new Envy x360 15-ee0013dx.  I, too have done resets, used AMD to clean and reinstall the drivers, download and install HP drivers, and such.

There is now enough evidence to support Blyat's theory that this is a KNOWN HP ISSUE for which they currently have no fix.  There are multiple reports of exactly the same thing across similar computers.  The ominous issue here is that HP now seems to be stalling and deflecting any support.  I am really not a "conspiracy theorist" here, but this has all the earmarks of a coverup in hopes that we will "go away".  They can't just replace the computers, because, as Blyat noted, they're all like that.  They would lose money and destroy their distribution system if they just refunded the cost of the defective product.  And their gambit of asking you to "join" the software support system just pushes the problem -- and the cost -- back on us, the customers.
This is not good, folks.  I think we have uncovered a real problem here.

Since my last post, have used the laptop for several more Zoom meetings and the problem has not recurred (yet). The actions I had taken were a fresh Windows install, and turning off Bang & Olufsen audio enhancements. Using the laptop daily for Zoom meetings so will continue to monitor.

After my post I continued troubleshooting and have so far not had any issues for around 4 days- which is pretty good for how often this issue was occurring... I started by uninstalling HP Audio Switch and a few other HP audio apps (can't remember them all off the top of my head). I did keep the Bang and Olufson (or whatever it is) because that is the default driver for the sound card and it would be trivial to try to find a stock Realtek driver for that card. Once that was done I downloaded and installed the AMD auto-detect tool from the following site- https://www.amd.com/en/support

Be sure that the "factory restore" option is checked, it should be by default, and install the newest drivers. The OEM driver on the laptop is a lite version and I noticed a large jump in the audio driver version after doing this. It seems to be working so far, good luck to you all.
