Welcome Sergy.
All ProBooks and EliteBooks are the same.
You will need to contact HP.

Or look at this link.

i've been reading the thread you gave me on Mazzif's Password Reset Utility but my EliteBook 9470m is not officially supported so here are a couple of questions:
1. Is it safe to try (gamble) using Mazzif's utility? - does not work according to Mazzif
2. If the BIOS gets corrupted with the utility can I recover it like in my desktop's mobo wherein there is a backup BIOS?
3. Can flashing a newer BIOS remove the password? - password is retained after flashing
4. Does removing the motherboard's battery reset the BIOS like desktop motherboards?
Thanks for the help.
edit: got answers to 1 & 3

2: If you need to update/recover your BIOS, see my post here: http://bit.ly/Kp5yAv
4: Not on elite/probooks

I have a 6735s (3rd owner) and ofcourse don't have any contact with the original owner to get the password reset.
I was able to install a new hard drive after the original hard drive crashed, which I understand negates the ablity to reset the password via standard methods.
how should I procceed?

Copy.
Let us know if after the 3 incorrect password you get that halt code.
In the mean time I will check our warehouse to see if I have one to test.
